Scientific Glassblowing Shop

The Notre Dame Radiation Laboratory houses the area's only Scientific Glassblowing Shop. Along with the NDRL, the Glass Shop services many departments on campus including Chemistry, Physics, and Engineering. The mission of the shop is to work with researchers in the design and fabrication of specialty scientific glass aparatus, and to repair or modify existing glassware for specific needs. It is also available to do projects for customers outside of Notre Dame.

The shop is fully equipped to handle all of your custom glassware needs. The Glass Shop line of services include:

We have the capacity to fabricate quartz and borosilicate glassware. Consultation is available on the construction, design, application, and practicalities of glass and other materials used in glass production and scientific research.

The Glass Shop is managed by Kiva Ford, whose experience with scientific glass is anchored by his degree in Scientific Glass Technology. Kiva has over a decade of professional experience working one on one with researchers in industrial and university settings.
